1) Automatic pool vacuums like the Robotic S3 and Polaris 9300 run separate from your filtration system – this means less backwashing, longer filtration system life and less money spent on replacement parts and repair.

2) Save on chemical costs! Adding your chlorine at night prevents immediate burn off. If you add chlorine during the day, UV rays will burn off some of the chemical, making it less effective.

3) Your pool water level should be ¾ up the skimmer plate. If water goes below the skimmer, the pump will suck in air and could become damaged. Keeping your water at an acceptable level prevents this.

4) Did you know that in peak swimming season, 2" of water loss per week is acceptable! BUT keep your level at ¾ up the skimmer to prevent damage to your pump.

5) Do you have a concrete pool? Higher calcium is important to maintain the finish of your pool.

7) Slimy liner? You may have the initial stages of algae – make sure you have enough sanitizer in your pool. Scrub down your walls and do a chlorine superchlorination that night. An oxidizer during the day will also help to speed up the process.

13) Save on energy costs! Now there are several ways to save energy and money with pool equipment. Look for Heat Pumps, Solar Heating systems, Pumps with timers and LED pool lighting.

14) Good water chemistry does much more than keep your pool water clear. Low alkalinity levels can cause irreparable wrinkles in your liner, make sure to balance your water bi-weekly.

16) Keeping an eye on your alkalinity levels will prevent damage to your heater and other metals in your water. Low alkalinity means a more acidic pool, which can cause damage to these units.

17) Prevent algae from coming back! Make sure when you are vacuuming up old/dead algae that you switch your filter mode to WASTE or DRAIN. This will prevent the old algae from passing back through your filtration system. *Note, you will lose water as you vacuum on this setting.

18) Getting odd readings on your test strips? They might be expired – check the date on the manufacturer’s label!

19) Don’t forget that there are certain things that can throw off a chemical test: High Sanitizer or low pH.

20) Is it raining today? Your water chemistry is affected by everything that touches the water – make sure that your water sample will show our experts true results. Also! Water samples should be brought in within 3 hours of taking the sample. Room temperature please!

21) Putting pucks in your skimmer can deteriorate the basket and clog the lines! Make sure to ask about a chlorinator.
